Blade Inspection And Repair
Well-maintained blades play a critical role in the performance of the wind turbine. Our expertise in restoring the strength and integrity of blades is second to none and is strengthened through the use of innovative technologies including UAVs (drones) no-downtime ground based cameras and digital AI monitoring software for comprehensive blade analysis.
Our extensive wind expertise combined with these specialist wind turbine inspection technologies means inspections are thorough and efficient, followed up with clear, concise reports for confident, evidence-based decision-making. We offer a full range of maintenance services from lightening protection system surveys and maintenance to basic or full structural repairs.
Statutory Inspections
We offer a thorough, end-to-end statutory inspection service for wind infrastructure. Every single inspection project we undertake is customised to account for the turbine type and balance of plant on a client’s site. This ensures the exact nature, duration and complexity required of any inspection is carried out to the letter.
Our statutory inspection services can be carried out as part of an ongoing campaign or ad-hoc and cover everything from lifting equipment and lifting accessories, fall arrest and work restraint systems, turbine mounted safety equipment (TMSE), fire suppression equipment as well as personnel lifts, hoists and cranes. Added to this, if we find any faults during an inspection, we'll repair them to prevent additional downtime. We’ve built a strong team of in-house wind energy experts and technicians, which means our clients receive informed integrity recommendations every time so they can take any necessary actions with confidence.
Mechanical and Preservation Services
Glacier Energy offers a unique solution for wind turbine integrity and preservation issues. Our combination of services is designed to ensure full structural integrity and helps extend the life of our client’s wind turbines.
At the heart of our service is our market leading Integrity Management System (GIMS), which ensures full traceability of construction and maintenance activities along with our leading calculation software providing optimum bolt loads for all applications.
With a comprehensive suite of specialist tooling, our clients benefit from a fully controlled tightening solution for all bolted assemblies. Implementation of bolt loads are achieved and maintained for the life of the asset.
Utilising software specifically developed for the bolting industry, SONAR ultrasonic time-of-flight (TOF), the bolt loads are accurately verified. Additionally, Glacier Energy’s advanced phased array fastener inspection provides full verification of fastener condition.
Lastly, we offer preservation of flanged and bolted assemblies using advanced coating solutions with nano inhibitor technology designed to eliminate corrosion and extend life of the component.
