Job Purpose
- Provide Site Leadership and act as GMS focal point to customer’s for site work scopes and projects, whilst continually maintaining the highest level of safety.
- To proactively develop technical solutions and new initiatives to delivery onsite machining contracts.
- Proactivity involvement of assuring the competency standards of technicians are assessed and recorded.
- Act as mentor in the development of Site Technicians providing Technical assistance, practical training and Instruction of field reporting documentation and customer timesheets are to the highest level.
- Ensures that all maintenance of site machines equipment is kept to the highest standards.
- Provide technical support to the Operations Teams and assist with best practice development.
- Carryout Technical Surveys to define the complete work scope, equipment, special application fixtures and customers expectations from GMS.
Principal Accountabilities
- Developing field staff to the highest standard and reviewing training requirements of field staff with the Operations Manager.
- Collation of all relevant Technical support documentation required for key projects, ensure a comprehensive and professional response in conjunction with the operations support team.
- Provide technical support to all field technicians for the day-to-day requirements on key projects, having due regard to the efficiency, safety, quality, budgets and timescales of the jobs undertaken.
- Carry out Technical Site Surveys to secure business in all Global regions onshore and offshore.
- Work in a manner, which protects the health, safety and welfare of self and others.
- Actively participate in Company improvement initiatives.
- Adheres to all Company policies and procedures including quality, safety, environmental and HR.
- Attends customer meetings as required to support contracts. Involvement will range from analysing needs to presenting proposals.
- Willing to travel within the UK / Overseas and develop relationships with GMS Regional offices and Key customers.
Knowledge & Experience
- At least 10 year’s experience of working in a Site Machining related role.
- Good mechanical engineering knowledge.
- Sound educational background minimum HNC mechanical engineering preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, influencing and organisational skills.
- Team and goal oriented.
- Strong analytical skills coupled with practical, hands-on problem-solving approach.
- High energy and drive.
- IT literate with specific experience using Microsoft Excel & Word.
